Answer: Option A
Question : Is x > 3?

Statement 1: The sum of x and the square of x is 12.
x+x^2 = 12
i.e. x^+x-12 = 0
i.e. (x+4)(x-3)=0
i.e. x=-4 or 3
SInce none of the two values of x is greater than 3 therefore
SUFFICIENT

Statement 2: x^2 > 9
i.e. x > 3 or x < -3
NOT SUFFICIENT
