Sat the third-place finisher ate T hot dogs and the winner ate W hot dogs. We have to get the value of W.

Let's take each statement one by one.

1) The winner consumed 24 more hot dogs than did the third-place finisher.

> W = 24 + T. Insufficient.

2) The winner consumed hot dogs at double the rate of the third-place finisher.

=> W = 2T. Insufficient.

(1) and (2) together

From (1) and (2), we have T = 24 and W = 48. Sufficient.

The correct answer: C

Hope this helps!
