Solution:

The number of ways to select the 4 strings is 7C4 = 7!/[4!(7-4)!] = (7 x 6 x 5 x 4)/4! = (7 x 6 x 5 x 4)/(4 x 3 x 2) = 7 x 5 = 35.

The number of ways to select the 3 woodwinds is 7C3 = 7!/[3!(7-3)!] = (7 x 6 x 5)/3! = (7 x 6 x 5)/(3 x 2) = 7 x 5 = 35.

Thus, the total number of ways to select the group is 35 x 35 = 1,225.

Answer: E
