Couple of Questions

1. 4. The Arithmetic sequence t1, t2, t3...................... tn ............... t1 = 23 and tn =tn-1 -3 for each n>1. What is the value of n when tn = -4
I.-4 II. 7 III 10 IV. 14 V. 24

2. If X>Y^2>Z^4 which of the following statement could be true?
I. X>Y>Z II. Z>Y>X III. X>Z>Z

3. A certain office supply store stocks 2 sizes of self stick note pads, each in 4 colors: blue, green, yellow and pink. The notepads in the packages that contain either 3 notepads of the same size and same colors or 3 notepads of the same size and 3 different colors.
If the order in which the colors are picked is not considered, how many different packages of the type described above are possible.

I. 6 II. 8 III. 16 IV. 24 V 32

t1=23
t2= 23-4 = 20
t3=20-3=17
t4=17-3=14

--> IV. 14 is the answer

1.) t1 = 23

t2 = t1-3 = 20

tn = 23-(n-1)*3 =-4
(n-1)*3 = 27

n =10

2)if x>y^2>z^4

x>y>z is possible when x,y,z are greater than 1

say x=16, y =3 and z=1

z>y>z is also possible

say x =.3, y= .4 and z =0.5

so i & ii are possible

3) 4*2= 8 of same colour same size
4C3*2 =8 of different colour same size

Total choices =8+8 =16

The question needs the value of n when tn = -4 and not t4

question is which COULD be true and not which MUST be true.. so let's solve bearing that in mind
I. X>Y>Z
taking X = 100, y = 5, z = 2, and plugging in the equation --> 100 > 25 > 4, which is correct

Hence, I is the answer

If x,y,z is in between 0 and 1, II is also possible (see the example above)
