Engineer with a low quant??

Hello,

I'm in the process of getting together my application for school and I just completed my gmat test. I scored a 680, which im content with, but the break down is what worries me 42 (59% quant) 41 (92% verbal). I graduated from cornell with a 3.14 in engineering and I work at an engineering company. Do you think I would need to retake to make up for my quant score?

Dear bobdemerrit,

It is hard to say based on the minimal information in your post. If you did well (B+ or higher) in your quantitative coursework at Cornell and have utilized analytical/quantitative skills successfully in your professional experience, then your current GMAT score might be fine. The total score is certainly within range and the 42 in quant is not insurmountable with a technical background such as yours. Assess your profile from a holistic perspective and determine if there is enough evidence there of your quantitative/analytical aptitude; if so, then I think you can proceed.
