636.Several senior officials spoke to the press on condition that they not be named in the story.
(A) that they not be named
(B) that their names will not be used
(C) that their names are not used
(D) of not being named
(E) they will not be named
(OA is A but shouldn't it be E as it uses 'will'?)

A makes the sentence subjunctive. Which is the correct usage.

i think "that" is required after "condition" in the sentence above.
hence can eliminate E.

B,C n D have awkward sentence construction.

the only option remains is A. It doesnt seem to be perfect although best among the lot.
