Unlike other scholars, the eminent mythologist
has concluded that the stories of Gilgamesh and
Osiris record the transition from the age of
matriarchal religious authority to that of
patriarchal political power.
(A) Unlike other scholars, the eminent
mythologist has concluded
(B) Unlike other scholars, the eminent
mythologist’s conclusion
(C) Unlike other scholars, the eminent
mythologist’s conclusion is
(D) Unlike those of other scholars, the
eminent mythologist’s conclusions are
(E) The eminent mythologists, unlike those of
other scholars, has concluded

Sorry to reveal the OA. But, I want to ask ques based on that. IMO D.
OA - A. But in A, I found Unlike X , Y has concluded....So, here X is plural and Y is singular. So, comparison is b.w singular and plural things ...Is it ok? Coz i think comaprison is always between sing with sing or plural with plural

(A) Unlike other scholars, the eminent
mythologist has concluded

Correct usage of idiom Unlike X, X and correct comparison of other scholars with the Mythologist
Yes, In unlike, you can compare many with one person..so singular for the mythologist and plural for other make sense..while the reverse would bot be ok

(B) Unlike other scholars, the eminent
mythologist’s conclusion

Comparison between other scholars and the conclusion of Mythologist

Icorrect comparsion

(C) Unlike other scholars, the eminent
mythologist’s conclusion is

Same like B
(D) Unlike those of other scholars, the
eminent mythologist’s conclusions are

Conclusions are compared instead of Scholars
(E) The eminent mythologists, unlike those of
other scholars, has concluded

Improper usage of idiom Unlike X, Y

Let me try....
I am sure you can easily rule out BCE

Let us first look at D
After using D, sentence becomes

Unlike those of other scholars, the eminent mythologist’s conclusions are that the stories of Gilgamesh and Osiris record the transition from the age of matriarchal religious authority to that of patriarchal political power.

"conclusions are that the stories of " is looking weird.
Also
here we have only one conclusion so "conclusions are " is incorrect.

Reagrading singular plural point
I agree there is some gap.
I also think it should be valid wrt number, waiting for experts to comment on.

Just think
Unlike his friends, John is good.
is completely valid so I think we can compare singular / plural when we are comparing one with the whole bunch.

Hope this helps!!
