Advertising is the most influential and therefore the most important artistic achievement of the twentieth century
The above issue states that advertising is the most influential and therefore is the most important artistic achievement of the twentieth century. I agree with it to some extent.
In my opinion, it is true that advertising is very influential but it does not make advertising the most influential of all marketing techniques. On the other hand, twentieth century is identified by its remarkable achievements in the field of science and technology and most of the advertising methods involve technology but this does not make advertising the most important achievement of twentieth century.
Today, businesses are making huge profits by employing latest and unique advertising methods. Television ads are becoming more creative day by day. Internet has also opened new horizons for advertising. But, there are many other factors that influence the purchasing decisions of buyers. Some businesses develop a loyalty relationship with customers and buyers purchasing decisions remains neutral despite of all advertising.
Some products and services are needs of the customers and they have to purchase them. For example, if a person is in need of seven-sear car, he will not going to buy a sports car even if the manufacturers of the sports car have spent millions on its advertisement.
I believe that there are different forms of advertising. The ads we see on the Television and on the internet attract more viewers if they are more artistic. But, some very simple ads are equally effective and meaningful. For example, the ad of a company for credit counseling attracts more people if it is mature and sophisticated and explains how the company will help to take control of their finances rather than it being artistic.
Moreover, there a thousands of other artistics achievements of the twentieth century including movies, animated movies, paintings, architects etc. Therefore, we can conclude from the above discussion that though advertising is influential it is not the most artistic achievement of the twentieth century.
