Just a quick question about absolute values.
Example:
(1) |x + 3| = 4x - 3
Manhattan gmat says you should take the +/- of the side of the equation opposite the absolute value.
So in this case, x+3 = +(4x - 3) AND x+3 = -(4x-3)
However, kaplan says that you should take the +/- of the absolute value side.
In other words +(x+3) = 4x-3 AND -(x+3) = 4x-3.
My question is, does it matter which method you choose? It doesn't seem to matter since I get the same answer, but just want expert confirmation.
