OG - Verbal (Purple book) : SC - 69: Breeding Bird Survey

Hello,

I had a question regarding the Sentence correction questions no. 69 in the OG 11 - Verbal (Purple) book. I am not repeating the content here for copyright, but a phrase of the sentence says:

monitoring of population changes of as many as, or of more than 250

Answer choices:
A.
B. monitor population changes of as many, or
C. monitor changes in populations of
D.
E.

The OA is C, but I chose B (even tho it was a little wordy) because I felt that C modified the meaning. The original sentence is "monitoring >= 250 bird species". This is the same as B.

C is "monitoring > 250 bird species".

What's wrong with my reasoning?

thanks,
tarak

i think i solved this one in og10 as well.. cant really tell exactly bcoz of absence of complete sentence..

B is wordy..

C is correct - there must be parallelism &
monitor changes in populations of THE more than 250 species. By adding the, the total figure is 250 species
