- GMAT Score:520
Hi everyone,
When I took the exam in November 2008, I scored a 440. I felt horrible after the exam. I felt like all the extreme hard work, dedication, and time put into preparing for two months had gone to WASTE and I really didn't know what to do. I took 7 practice exams prior to taking the actual exam, studied for two weeks or so before starting my course with the Princeton Review. I started the course with a 360 and ended with a 510 on the last/5th practice test. Then, I took another practice exam with the free GMAT Prep Software and scored 510 again.
I am afraid that if I take the test more than 3 times, it will be looked at negatively to the schools I am interested in applying to. However, If I improve even more with each re-take, i don't see what could disqualify me? i am not the best test-taker, but my goal is to get at least a 600, and I am not never going to give up until I succeed. I am motivated to retake it again, but I just need some comforting advice/encouragement. I also have some mild learning deficiencies that impact my ability to understand certain types of questions and answer them. So, I have to put in extra effort than the average person for some concepts/topics. Hopefully, the admissions committee of schools I am interested in will see other aspects of application other than the GMAT - i have a 3.71 undergraduate cumulative GPA with a double major, had 15-20 hour workweeks during my senior year, played full-time varsity tennis all 4 yeas in college, and right now, good stable work experience and doing public speaking (Toastmasters Club) at work. In sum, I am a very hardworking person and feel I have a lot to offer from the different kinds of skills: communication, analytical, etc.
Since, I work full-time and work life schedule is not always predictable, I have decided I will enroll in a Kaplan course starting on March 7. I plan on taking the exam around mid-may. Any suggestions for studying before the start of my upcoming course? I feel that to achieve a score of at least at 640, it will really be best to take an intensive, classroom course. I have GMAT study cards that I bought from borders and some online notes.
Thank you!
