Hello,

So I had no intention of going straight into grad school after undergrad until about a month ago. I'm going into hotel management and marketing, so I'm looking into Hospitality Management MS programs and a couple MBA programs.

I took the GMAT today with 0 studying and I got a 710. 42 quantitative, 45 verbal. I have a 3.9 at Emerson College, where I major in integrated marketing.

Is this a competitive score? It seems like it is, but like I said, I took the test cold today and thats what came out. What types of programs is this going to get me into?

My advice to you would be to pursue the MBA, I currently have a MS in Hospitality Management and because it is a research degree and the MBA is an applied degree it was almost useless in the workplace.

Congrats! I got the same score but a different split.

Do the MBA. A 710 cold = 760+ with study. Also, you want to do marketing so your quant does not need to be super strong, so go for an MBA it has a stronger credential effect than an MS.

Helpful information, I think I am leaning towards the MBA now.

I wanted to go to Rollins for the EAMBA program. Does anyone know anything about their admissions? It seems like I would be competitive. I think maybe I'm underestimating myself. On numbers alone, I should be pretty close to top tier schools, right?

710 is a nice score. Unless a scholarship or fellowship demands a higher score, don't waste your time on taking GMAT again. Yes, it is a competitive score.
