680, Indian, 2 years in IT

Hello,

I am an Indian, from the IT field (Yeah,I know you hear that a lot!).
There is one plus though, I from one of the most well known companies in the world. Hint: Its german, and makes business software.

I have a 680 in the GMAT. Taking it up again, in a week.

It'll be around the end of novemeber, by the time I finish my GMAT (second attempt) and TOEFL.
I have 18 months of work experience as of today. I have excellent undergraduate scores (all above 90, and school scores above 90 as well) , and good extra curriculars.

My question is this: Is it worth it, to apply to schools, like say, Fisher, Wisconsin, Foster, Tulane, Rutgers, before the second deadline, in which case, I will have to apply in great hurry and put in a great amount of effort.

I am ready to do all the work, if, IF, the experts here think that I have a chance to make it to one or more of these schools.

If you think I do not have a shot at these schools right now, I would rather apply next year, with a little more work experience, and by then, is it possible that I think about schools like: Darden/ Kenan Flagler/ Notre dame? Or should I just stick to the initial set of schools or are even those schools not in the safe zone?

I know the question is long, but it covers a lot of points I believe, and I am sure it will help a lot of people.

Looking forward to your replies.

Regards

I would say that you are in a good position to get into the schools that you listed, but if you rush an application, it will show. Honest advice is if timing is not crucial, give yourself time to prepare (maybe try to improve your GMAT) and apply to a couple of the safer schools and couple stretches next year.

Hello Jim,

Thanks for the assessment.
When you say apply to a few safer schools, can you name a few?
And, you think I can make it to schools like Fisher/ Foster/ Wisconsin/ Rutgers, this year?

Thanks again!
