GMAT Prep Question Pack 1

by ani781 » Mon Sep 02, 2013 3:17 pm
Hi Friends,
Can someone please suggest whether it is a good idea to buy the 404 Questions on the GMAT Prep Question Pack 1... Is it okay to practice from these... or as a strategy it should be saved for the last few days of preparation? I have read in a few debriefs that , this Question Pack has some questions which are very much representative of the real GMAT... Can anyone kindly throw some light onto this ?

Regards.

Hi Mate,

I bought the gmatprep question pack1 about a month ago. I must tell you that it is very good and to me its a must. 404 question for $30 is worth it. Moreover all the questions are new and from official source. So You should practise as much as you can from official source. Moreover it comes with the explanation. They are retired from original gmat. So they are representative of real gmat.

Thanks
Rakesh

Thanks a lot Rakesh. I was really looking for someone like you who has himself reaped the benefits from this pack. Rakesh, do you find these questions to be repeating from the two GMATPrep tests ? Thanks pal.

Hi ani781,

Getting in the necessary repetitions/practice is an essential part of the study process. Make sure to note the approaches/tactics you use and the patterns that you come across, because these same patterns will repeat on the real GMAT.

As far as the SOURCE of your practice material is concerned, I absolutely agree that using Official GMAC practice problems must be a part of everyone's study plan. However, some self-studiers use too many pencil-and-paper sources to study and are NOT properly trained to handle those same questions when they appear on a computer. Make sure that you get in enough computer-based practice, so you're used to the wear-and-tear that comes from taking a 4-hour exam on a computer.

No they are all new questions and that is why I bought that. Before buying the question pack I sent them an email and asked them. They said that there are no repeats all questions are new and not in OG or other resources. So this is one big advantage. There is another thing these guys sell...its paper tests. They are good too but they have got more than 40% repeats. So I wouldn't recommend those as I have bought those too. But yes question pack 1 is good it comes with explanations and some of the questions are really challenging mate.

Thanks
rakesh

Rakesh is quite right! And Rich is as well!

The advantage of the Prep Pack add on is that the questions of course are on the computer and so it is a much more realistic practice. Like Rich I am not as fond of the paper tests not only because they are paper but also because of their age. You are better off going with some non-official questions from well-known GMAT companies if they are more representative of what is on the test now.

With the Prep Pack add-on, you can construct "tests" of how every many questions you choose so although these are not adaptive they are great practice!

Of course the other important thing for many people worldwide - especially students in areas where it is tougher to get materials shipped to them in a short time - is that the Add on Pack is a great instant option.
