Hi Brian,

I think the 690 along with your explanation on quant skills in the additional essay should be okay. After all the GMAT is just one critieria of the entire application. Obviously you are smart bc you were in a Ross BBA and you did well in those competitive quant classes there. It'd be pretty silly for admissions to reject you because of a 42 on the gmat quant. So hopefully that makes you feel a little better. HOWEVER, I do think that IF you have time, retake it, just because MBA programs are becoming more competitive (and this is my plan too if I bomb my gmat this saturday, haha!). I'm guessing you'll have some time off for Christmas so take that time to review again.

Anyway, back to work. GO BLUE!

GMAT Score:650

I had made a similar mistake of taking a lot of practice tests. In my 6 weeks prep I took 11 practice tests in last 4 weeks. Every time I scored lower than I expected in a practice test, I want to take another one right away, convincing myself that I can reach higher than this. The worst part is even after scoring an average of 660 on MGMAT CAT I ended up scoring 650 in actual GMAT. In final two weeks I did not pay much attention to OG problems. On the quantitative side, first few questions looked so unfamiliar and no, it was not because I was stressed. I was calm and ready for the test. I couldn't blame my composure during the test.
After reading this debrief, I have started thinking about taking the test again. Unfortunately I won't have time to work on the essays if I do so.
