A C and E are easy to eliminate , since the correct idiom to give examples is 'such as'. Only use like as a preposition when you mean 'similar to'. In written English, do NOT use 'like' to introduce examples

We will let parallel structure help us choose between B and D

B- the cultivation..., the harvesting ... , the exploitation CORRECT
D their cultivation, the harvest, exploiting INCORRECT

D also distorts the meaning by introducing 'and they based'- no such action was implied in the original
