IMO (A).

Though I didn't find anything logically wrong with option (B) but will go for (A) just because of Parallelism.

I think B is also parallel
threat to plants
and
threat for maintaining

to and for both are prepositions.

Please suggest
Is my reasoning correct?

I went with A bcoz
"threat to" is correct usage and "threat for is not"

OA is A..

I agree to explanation..

to navtive species of plant...and to the maintenance...

i thought to the maintenance is not correct...
and for the maintaining sounds...

but i guess i was wrong..

Phil Bhai,

IMO A makes sense.

According to some botanists, invasive plants are the second most serious threat, after habitat loss, to native species of plants and animals and to the maintenance of biologically diverse ecosystems.

Parallelism is maintained after & before "and".(Look at the italics part).

In B

threat, after habitat loss, to native species of plants and animals and for
maintaining biologically diverse ecosystems

No parallelism Maintained.

I suggest you to always look for parallelism & comparison errors in GMAT real SC questions. Becox GMAC loves them so much. Even in OG, you see how much GMAC loves Comaprison & parallelism.!!
