I am very weak with Quant...! please help

Its been four months since i ma preparing for my gmat but m still not able to get over the quant section of it.Being from a commerce background i have always found maths very difficult and pretty much weak in it from my school days. my main problem is that my basics are not strong at all and the worst part i have already taken my exam date on 1st June since the pattern is changing from 5th June. i dunno wat to do. the last option i thought is just to guess the answers which is not good. please help me..!

You have a month. Start working on the OG, from front to back. If you get stuck on a question, read the answer in the back, analyze it, and move on.

Identify your weak areas in Quant ASAP. Do not concentrate on advanced topics like Combinatorics or Probability just yet. Wait until you get your basics right.
The first thing you have to get right is your understanding of Data Sufficiency (eg: AD/BCE strategy etc). For most of the starters in Quant, understanding the Data Sufficiency question type itself is a challenge. So, get that sorted out first.

my major problem is that I understand the formulas, concepts but when it comes to the application of it i am back to the same level. As far as data sufficiency is concerned i find it more comfortable as compared to the word problems. I am aiming for a score of 700 will that b possible if i just refer the OG?

The OG itself is not sufficient to bring you to the 700 level if you are not inherently a 700 test taker.

If basics are your problem the best strategy is to work on the basics, not from a memorizing formulas standpoint but from a working with algebra and numbers standpoint. Many people jump right into GMAT questions when they should be working on more basic word problems first. Find study materials that will make you solid in basic algebra manipulation and practice with factoring and fractions. If you don't understand the basic underpinnings of a question it can be incredibly difficult to be flexible in your approach and get the most points possible. this type of review normally only takes a week or two and can increase your score dramatically. After you are very comfortable with teh basics you will have to start studying GMAT testing techniques and problems to gain the score you want but you need a good foundation.

I hope that you understand that not every GMAT quant problem has to be "solved". I don't know if I am in the best position to give quant advice due to my relatively mediocre quant score; however, sometimes you really just need to "plug and play".

There has been many problems where I have no idea how to solve it algebraically (perhaps GMAC made it that way so that it measures a test taker's ability to think outside the box). You have to plug each available answer in to determine which one works.

This is especially effective with questions with have multiple variables within an inequality.
