difficulty on the new gmat type

by simone88 » Mon Apr 23, 2012 10:39 am
I tried to do the online test (CAT) doing only the mathematical part (I was compelled to stop the test before finishing it) but I noticed that the difficulty of this part is much higher than the ones I used to do with the old gmat prep. Will the difficulty of the new gmat math part or even of the new verbal part be higher? will the scores (up to 51) will remain the same?

Hi Simone,

Since the GMAT (and the GMATPrep practice tests) is computer adaptive, every test-taker (other than, perhaps, those test-takers who routinely score 800 without breaking a sweat) will find the questions very difficult. The test is designed to keep giving you harder and harder questions until you reach your upper limits.
So, a 500-level student will find the questions difficult and 700-level student will find the questions difficult. The only difference is that the 500-level student is seeing 500-level questions (and above), and the 700-level student is seeing 700-level questions (and above).

Cheers,
Brent
