Hi Tushar14,

The 13th Edition GMAC Official Guide is a great book of questions that once appeared on the Official GMAT. You can purchase it from Amazon.com.

If you can answer a few questions, then I'd be happy to offer some study advice:

1) When do you plan to take the GMAT?
2) What is your score goal?
3) Have you taken any full-length practice CAT tests yet? If so, then what were your Scaled Scores for the Quant and Verbal sections?

Thanks Rich,
1) When do you plan to take the GMAT?
I want to get into some MBA program after Dec-2014 as I have some commitments till that time.Hopefully by July/August 2014.
2) What is your score goal?
At-least it has to be 700+ if I am aiming to get into top 20-30 B-schools. Am I rite ?
3) Have you taken any full-length practice CAT tests yet? If so, then what were your Scaled Scores for the Quant and Verbal sections? Not-Yet

It would be great if you advice me on how to start up.

Thanks again for your time and support.

Hi Tushar14,

You've given yourself plenty of time to study, so you've put yourself in a good position to succeed. While most of the Top-20 US Business Schools have an AVERAGE GMAT score of 700+, that's just an average, NOT a requirement. Obviously, the higher your GMAT score, the better your "chances"; a high GMAT score might also help you qualify for a scholarship. Keep in mind that a strong overall application is what it takes to get into B-School and your GMAT score is just one of the parts of the application.

While it sounds like you're still in the "information gathering" phase of your plan, you should plan on taking a full-length practice CAT sometime soon (you can download 2 for FREE from www.mba.com). Your scores from that CAT will establish your "baseline" score and give you a sense of your strengths and weaknesses.

Many Test Takers find it helpful to enroll in a GMAT Course of some type. Most GMAT companies offer some sort of free materials or trial versions of their programs, so that you can get a sense of what they're offering. I suggest that you take advantage of all the options and choose the one that best matches your personality and budget.
