used to generate triangles

by sanju09 » Sat Mar 13, 2010 3:48 am
The straight lines l, m, and n are in a parallel and lie in the same plane. A total number of p points on l; q points on m, and r points on n are used to generate triangles. What is the maximum possible number of triangles that could be generated?
(A) 1
(B) (p + q + r)C3
(C) [(p + q + r)C3] + 1
(D) (p + q + r)C3 - pC3 - qC3 - rC3
(E) [(p + q + r)C3 - pC3 - qC3 - rC3] + 1

If u think that way, I am damn sure ur thought process is very poor/mean.

Dude, forum is all about learning which including sharing our Gyan/knowledge.

Posting IMO( and that too wrong IMO in ur case) is nothing but BS!!

May be I am sounding harsh, but I really reconsider ur outlook and start posting great answers along with its explanations.

I mean its not necessary that ur name (girish) need to come in Hall of fame fo rthe best poster( like DanaJ/Logitech/Cramy) but users will certainly thank you wholeheartdely.AFTER ALL WE ALL say "luck" its nothing but accumulated good fortune u bring it by sharing "things".

Hope I helped u in one way or theother & i am eager to ee ur posts with fantastic explanations.

(E) [(p + q + r)C3 - pC3 - qC3 - rC3] + 1
(p + q + r)C3 are the total no of ways to choose three points.
of these pC3 are all the three point on line which form a st. line,
One straight line can be formed joining different points on the three parallel st. lines.

so IMO E

Hey Girish

Govind is a nice man and so is me I believe. The only difference between me and him is that a renowned mental asylum has issued me the certificate that I'm perfectly OK, which I can show to others as well, but Govind has not have got one to prove his mentality. (HOLI HAI sorry holi thi)

Let's discuss the main query now, please!!
