IS x > y?

1. 9x=4y
2. x> -y


I tested numbers and got confused on how to bring both 1 &2 together with my tested numbers. PLEASE if show how to do this in baby steps!

If you consider only positive numbers then X is less than Y.
If you consider only negative numbers then X is greater than Y
So A does not help

B by itself does not give an answer. Y could be 18 and X can be 4 but X is still greater than -Y

If you combine both statements, then X and Y have to be positive and X is less than Y.

Hence the Q can be answered using both statements.

Statement 1 specifically means that both x and y are having the same sign..

so the moral of the story is to not just plug n numbers but see if you can answer logically. However, I am having a bit more difficulty in the initial way of approaching the situation.
