1st Attempt = Major Disappointment

by usnabatman » Wed Jun 17, 2009 6:07 pm
Hello All - so I took the GMAT today for the 1st time and got my absolute lowest score ever - 580 (39q/30v)

- a week before the test I took the GMAT-PREP exams and received a 660 (47q/35v) and 650 (44q/36v). So I figure i was in that 620-670 range, but a 580 was a major disappointment.

I'm not sure what happened but I think I may have taken the beginning questions of each section for granted, thus making careless errors. Either way I know I can reach my goal score of 680 but not sure where I should go from here - I have taken the Princeton Review course and I did find it helpful but I think it may have been a little to strategy based. After taking the exam I feel like I need to grasp some more fundamental concepts.
If anyone has any advice on a forward strategy from here and what Prep book I should use please let me know - I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you

Do you have the official guide books? If not, obviously buy those.

I would recommend the Manhattan GMAT books, I think they're exceptional - plus you can pick the books you're weak in.
