You know from what I understand, and someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but corporate finance fits under the umbrella of investment banking. Investment banks, especially bulge bracket firms, are incredibly varied, complex firms that do a lot of work on both the sell and buy side of the equation. Corporate finance would be like one wing or branch of a said tree.
