Hi
I have about 4 months before i take my GMAT. I have an engineering background however not in touch with too much math as its been years since i finished school.
Quant is the section that i really want to prepare well in addition to other section.
I brushed up some math basics and took Gmat Prep test 1. I scored 560.
I got 18 answers wrong in Quant and 19 wrong in Verbal.
Verbal - weak area is sentence correction which i plan to tackel after i gain more confidence in Quant section.
Quant - Most of my errors were careless mistakes and i need to increase my speed as well.By the end of Quant section , i had to guess 3 questios as i was left with just 1 min.

I have bought OG edition 11 and Kplan 800.
Please help me to device a study plan. I want to score 700 +. Is it possible or am i aiming too high??
I work, so can afford 1 hr on weekdays and more time on weekends.

I really want to increase my score. Please advice how?
I am doing self study.
Here is a break down of how i feel about each area:
PS: need to reduce making careless mistakes and increase speed.
DS: I am okay with this, need to avoid careless mistakes.
RC: comfortable
SC: Even though i am an english speaker, this section really gets me !
CR: I think i can handle this, just need to keep practicing.
AWA: will handle in the last month before the test.

Please also suggest if i need to get more material (books/practice test etc)
I really want to get 700+ Hope its possible when i am starting with 560 (gmatprep test 1)

Please Advice.

Hi ngufo
I am an indian female too from california.
I read your entire blog.I must say ,like many people have said before, its very very inspiring ! You know when i wrote that post, i was really let down by my practice test score but then when i read ur reply....that helped me not to give up.
thanks for that. I have a long battle in front of me...preparing for these few months, but i got to work very hard.

Some questions for you:
1) I can give 2 hrs each week day evening during the week, regarding Quant, how many sums ATLEAST must i practice each day? Also keeping in mind that i have to devote time to analysis as well ?
weekdays i got to leave home at 6:30 am...have a long drive to work.
2) Based on my current analysis on quant, i have seen that i make careless mistakes a lot, i need to be very sharp and fully focused..Bringing this no down will help to boost my score. and i hope practice is the answer??
My concepts are okay but i do a lot of silly mistakes.
3) Are there any practice tests that are a must buy? I know there are one free test each from MGMAT, Princeton and GMATPrep. I do have some Kaplan practice tests ?

thanks for your blog, it was very helpful. I would be bothering you more as i go along my prepration.....is there an email or something where i can contact you directly?

Just one last thing...definitely NOT the least. I have faith in the supreme power/God and agree with you completely on how HE ...is always there for you...in different forms or ways...
