am i ready for exam ?

Hi

I need some help. My exam date is around (17th June), But I am not sure if I should attempt it or not.
Last 3 days I have attempted 2 free mocks provided by Kaplan and MGMAT.

Kaplan (Q50,V36) 700
MGMAT (Q49,V38) 700

I want to score 730-740. Shall take couple of more weeks before attempting the exam ?

I am going to attempt it second time, scored 650 last time. I have already exhausted 4 gmat prep exams during last test preparation.

I have this observation , my accuracy was low in VA , almost 18 Questions wrong still I scored 36 and 38 respectively. can somebody explain this ?

Hi deevD,

Assuming that you took these CATs in a realistic manner, then you're certainly in position to hit your score goal on June 17th. At this level, the GMAT becomes really 'sensitive' to little mistakes - if you make too many, then a 730+ score simply becomes impossible to achieve.

As far as the CATs are concerned, you should not have taken 2 CATs in 3 days - there was no benefit to doing that. A CAT is really a 'measuring device'; improvement comes during your studies, the CATs are a way to measure your improvement. The reason these two scores are so similar is because you didn't put in enough time between them to improve. Have you had a chance to review these CATs?

In each section, how many questions did you get wrong....
1) Because of a silly/little mistake?
2) Because there was some math/verbal that you just didn't know how to do?
3) Because the question was too hard?
4) Because you narrowed the answers down to 2 choices, but 'guessed' wrong?

All things being equal, I think that you should take the GMAT as scheduled. However, if you have any concerns, then you can pay the $50 fee and push back your Test Date (you just have to make that decision, and act on it, at least 7 full days before your Exam).

You mock scores suggest that you should go ahead and take the GMAT on the scheduled date.
Provided you took the CATs along with the AWA and the IR sections.

In the last few days, go through your error log and revisit all the official questions that you were not able to solve correctly.
Another suggestion would be to analyse these two mock CATs thoroughly and see if thee is any particular weak point.
If you find one, revisit the concepts and practice on those topics.

Hi deevD.

In order to hit your score goal, you only have to get, very roughly, four to six more right answers than you got. If you feel that you will be able to do that by your test date, then keep the date.

I personally would push the date back. That's my style. I would prefer to have the time to make sure that I can hit my goal. If you can remain motivated with the date a few weeks further out, then maybe you should change it. Being able to hit your goal score on a practice test before you go in for the real thing would be nice.

Either way, to get to that goal, find maybe ten things that you could be better at doing. Get better at doing those things and you should hit that goal.

Also, keep in mind that consistent accuracy in quant and being very detail oriented and perceptive in verbal are worth many points. Possibly by being more careful in the way you handle verbal questions you could hit your score goal by tomorrow.

I am not sure how you got those scores in verbal, but if you had long strings of right answers, you may have pushed your level up high enough to make up for the missed questions.
