Rescheduled my exam

by jerryragland » Sun May 02, 2010 12:30 pm
As you guys could see I scheduled my GMAT exam for 22/May and my target score is 740. I have been preparing for the exam for the past 3 months. Pretty sincerely, I should say. My first MGMAT CAT scores were not so great 540.. 540.. 590. After some intense preparation, I decided to take the GMAT Prep CAT 1 hoping that I will get above 650 and thinking may be the MGMAT questions were tough. I took the GMAT Prep CAT 1 yesterday and was really disappointed to see the score - 520.

I really don't want to push my date but I feel there is no way I can reach my target in 3 weeks. It doesn't seem realistic at this point. So, I pushed my exam to 20th NOV. I think I want to focus on my weakness.

Any suggestions on the following 2 -

1. When I compare verbal and math, I am better in Math. I know the concepts, but when it's time to apply them I face a difficulty. Especially with the time constraint in a real exam scenario.

2. I am not sure how to identify my weakness areas in verbal. I know I should put more time in SC but other than that I am not sure what should I do to improve in verbal.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. I really want to write a success post with the subject "720 + " like most of the folks in this forum but it looks like it's not going to happen in 3 weeks and I need some help from you people to write such a post. :-) :-)

Rather than focusing your attention on improving Sentence Correction in general, or Critical Reasoning in general, really look at the question types you are missing. Attempt to break down verbal by question type rather than SC, RC, or CR. If you do this, you will be able to make better use of your study time and see improvements.
