620 Official GMAT Score, Need Help Creating Quant Study Plan

I took the GMAT last Saturday and scored 620 overall (36Q, 40V). My target score is 730 and it is my struggles with the quant section that are holding me back.

Before taking the test I had studied for two months using Veritas Prep online. I watched most of the lectures, took three practice tests (580/36Q/34V, 690/44Q/41V, 670/44Q/38Q), and worked through all the quant homework, though I did not get a chance to go back and review all homework problems.

Is it worth going back through all the lessons and doing the homework again? Are there other problem sets I should be working on? What study strategies have worked for people to improve their quant scores, and how much (assuming verbal score stays flat) do I need to improve my quant score to hit/pass that 730 mark?

Thanks for the help in advance.

Hi jwagner2718,

Two months of study time is shorter than what I recommend to most Test Takers (I typically recommend that Test Takers plan for 3 months of study), so it might just be that you need a bit more time to solidify your grasp of the material and tactics. It's also important to make sure that your practice CATs mirror your actual GMAT in as many details as possible. It could be that your higher practice CAT scores were unrealistic in certain respects, so they weren't reflective of how you would score on the actual GMAT.

Since you have to wait 31 days to retest anyway, you can use that time to continue with your current studies. It might be that some additional repetitions is all you need to pick up those missing points. If you can't seem to improve though, then some new resources might be what's required.
