Is it OK to take GMATPrep Repeatedly?

by smodak » Sat Jul 16, 2011 10:08 am
I have been taking GMATPrep 1 & 2 very week. I clear the data from the location C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86)\GMATPrep. I do get some questions repeated but most of the test is new every week. I do have access to other tests (like MGMAT, Veritas etc.) that I can take instead. My GMAT is scheduled to be on 6th of August. Should I keep taking GMATPrep the way I am or would it be prudent to switch over to Veritas, Grockit or MGMAT tests instead?

Hi,

Deleting those files is not at all necessary. The software gives you questions based on its algorithm. It does not stop from giving you some questions because it is already given to you in the previous attempt. So, deleting that data is not necessary. That data just holds the answers you gave when you review the test. Once you mark the test complete, that's it. It is as good as new install.

Now coming to your real questions. I do not recommend anything more than 3 attemps. (even 2nd and 3rd attempts will inflate your scores.) But ya if you are lookign to extract all the GMAT Prep questions, then you may. But for practice, it is best to switch to other tests.

You can take this once again at the end to re-familiarize with the interface. Other tests have different interfaces.
Vineesh,
Just telling you what I know and think. I am not the expert. :)

At some point, you will begin to see many repeated questions. But, as you said, at first you will see only a handful of repeated questions. I wrote an article about taking the GMATPrep tests multiple times: https://www.beatthegmat.com/mba/2010/03/ ... iple-times)

I'd start mixing in some other tests as well.

Cheers,
Brent
