by dhonu121 » Sun Nov 06, 2011 12:20 am
Hi,
Anybody out there writing down essays taking Consulting as post MBA goal?
I have the same goal, so we might discuss and help each other.
If anybody there is interested in this, please post in your reply on this thread.

Thanks.

Hmmm. Probably about a third of the applicants will be going into consulting. Maybe if you have a specific question, I, or any other BeattheGMAt member might be able to help ya out.

Thanks Jon.
Basically, consulting is a very generic theme. And from what research I have done,to work as a consultant you need to specialise in one of the concentrations like finance, marketing etc.
Most of the B-Schools dont even have a concentration as consulting.
Can you through some light on that.
THanks.

That's true.
Consulting is a FUNCTION. But very often takes place within an industry. So you have MBA application consultants (that's us!) you have IT consultants (Tata), etc. But then you also have general management consultants (who can or can not concentrate on a specific industry). And there's a lot more than that.
