650 on 2 attempts! should I take it again?

by letibevi » Wed Sep 22, 2010 2:02 am
Hello,

I have been studying for the GMAT since March this year (with a little break in june-july for the world cup :) Honestly, I've done almost 300 hours of studying I recon.

I am not a native English speaker, but have been living in the US/UK for the past 6 years.

My first try:
650 - V: 35 Q: 46

Second Attempt:
650 - V:34 Q: 46

I have done all 4 books from GMAT Official Review
I did the Kaplan on-demand course and have taken 6 CATs:
600, 580, 610, 620, 620, 650
The last time I took the Kaplan one was about 2 months ago, just before my first attemp.

I also took all 7 CATs from Manhattan GMAT:
700 (V:39, Q 47); 640 (35, 43); 690 (38, 45); 650 (36, 43); 700 (41, 43); 670 (34; 47)

So, as you can see, it's not very much consistent, but most times I'm doing better on my verbal than on the real day!

I've done so many SC questions and still get a lot wrong (although I've improved a lot).
When I first did the evaluation exam from the GMAT Official Review I got 13/14 on RC and CR, but it seems like I've unlearnt things as I've studied!!

Can anyone give me some tips on:

- should I take it again?? I'm applying for INSEAD, IE and Imperial (all European schools). At INSEAD their average is around 700.
Just a quick info on my profile: 6.5 yrs of experience, worked in 4 different countries, female, Brazilian, work in IT, speak 4 languages.

- if I should take the GMAT again, what should I do to improve my score? I've done a lot of books and practive exams, and I'm running out of options on how to practive (without having to spend a lot of money).

Any help is much appreciated!!!!!!

Leticia
