What are my chances?

by molt_llest » Fri Jun 06, 2008 2:10 am
Hello, I am planning to apply this september to Columbia, Kellog and Tuck. But I don't know whether I have any chance.

Background
I am Catalan (Spain) and I am 25 years old(26 when I will apply).

Undergrad
I have a Master's Degree in Chemical Engineering and this june (I hope) I will have a Master's degree in Industrial Engineering.
My problem is that my GPA is not high (about 65 out of 100), I don't know whether this will be critical to my application.

Working experience

4 months project in an American multinational energy company. 6 months as a key account for a small supplier of adhesives for 2 automobile manufacturers (60M $ revenues). And since last july as a Plant Manager of several wastewater plants for a company belonging to the biggest group in spain in this market.

My GMAT is 700 (Q45 V40). And I guess my TOEFL will be 105 or so.

Do I have any chance?

Dear molt_llest,

I think you have the foundation for a competitive application. What will make the difference is how well you put your overall application together. Your essays, resume, recommendations and interview are critical components in the process. While your GPA is a concern, your GMAT demonstrates your academic aptitude for business school. You might consider writing the optional essay addressing your GPA in your applications.

Good luck,
Lisa
