GMATPREP English score VS MGMAT score

I am a MGMAT student and currently a tutoring student as well.. plan to chat with my tutor about this as well, but wanted to get your opinion.

1. On my last MGMAT exam, I scored a 670 with Q43 V38

On my MGMAT Verbal, I got 14 Wrong... Got 8/10 1st 10 correct, Got 6/10 correct in the last 10.. Got a V38.

2. On my GMATPrep exam, I scored a 630 with a Q44, V32.
On my GMATPrep exam, I got 13 Wrong... Got 9/10 1st 10 Correct, Got 6/10 correct in the last 10... Got a V32

Got the following questions incorrect on GMATPREP

2, 15, 16, 18, 20, 22, 26, 27, 30, 32, 33, 38, 41.

Can anyone shed any light on why the GMATPREP score was 6 points lower than the MGMAT score, with approximately the same performance.

Of the 13 questions I got incorrect, some I skipped on purpose (ie.. guessed).. perhaps i need to improve that strategy.

Any benchmarks on english scores others have taken with GMAT Prep would be helpful.

You really should not use absolute numbers of incorrect answers to compare test results.
You generate different skill level question based on your performance.

That said questions 15, 16, 18 are likely questions that sent your verbal downwards into a lower level.

Understood.. and that was my understanding as well.

Could you elaborate a bit more on your explanation on why 15, 16, 18 started the spiral?

Mutliple errors in a row (especially "early" in your section), can punish your score.
The fact that 30, 32, 33 was also a string of wrong answers, likely compressed your score downwards when you were slightly increasing as you were fighting back.

After 34... your score was likely essentially "set", generating mid level questions, instead of harder ones.

Obviously, this is just a theory.
