Check each answer choice...

(A) (99, 10)
√100 = 10
So, √99 is LESS THAN 10
In other words, 10 is GREATER THAN √99
So, answer choice A breaks the rule that says the second number must be less than or equal to the square root of the first"

x is a random number between 0 and 100
$$x=99\ ,\ then\ \ y\ \le\sqrt{99}$$
$$x=99\ ,\ and\ \ y\ \le9.95$$
$$x=85\ ,\ then\ \ y\ \le\sqrt{85}$$
$$x=85\ ,\ and\ y\ \le9.20$$
$$x=50\ ,\ then\ y\ \le\sqrt{50}$$
$$x=50\ ,\ and\ y\ \le7.71$$
$$x=1\ ,\ then\ y\ \le\sqrt{1}$$
$$x=1\ ,\ and\ y\ \le1$$
$$x=1\ ,\ then\ y\ \le\sqrt{0}$$
$$x=1\ ,\ and\ y\ \le0$$

$$answer\ is\ Option\ A$$

Looking at the answer choices, we see that since √100 = 10, square root of 99 is less than 10, so (99,10) cannot be the pair of numbers chosen.

Answer: A
