really dumb question

I am really new to the gmat and haven't prepped at all yet, but I was wondering if it is possible to use scratch paper on the test to do the math problems? Thanks!

Yep! You will be provided with laminated scratch "paper" and a pen and can use that scratch paper for all sections of the test, not just the math.
