Diagrams to scale or not to scale?

by superdana » Sat Apr 03, 2010 7:50 pm
I've read different things regarding the diagram representation on the GMAT.

When presented with a diagram, is it by default to scale? For example, if 2 lines are shown to be parallel, do I take them as parallel or do I only take them as parallel if the text specifically states so?

Thanks,
Dana

Do not take them as parallel unless mentioned. Especially in DS questions, the diagrams are such , to confuse you. For instance you may assume a triangle is a right angled triangle when its not. If it mentions drawn to scale, then as princeton mentions you can use your marker for a little cheating if the question requires you to find dimensions.
