If wx = y, then what is the value of xy?

(1) w*x^2 = 16
(2) y = 4

Let's take each statement one by one.

(1) w*x^2 = 16

We are given that wx = y. Multiplying the equation with x, we get w*x^2 = xy = 16 (given). Sufficient.

(2) y = 4

Insufficient.

The correct answer: A
