Veritas RC book finished new recommendation please!

Hi Everyone,

I have been targeting my very weak area, which is RC. I have been going crazy on RC and reading a lot of articles and doing 5 RC passages at the same time. I have finished today Veritas prep RC book with accuracy of 3 correct out of 4 questions in each passage( average). Some passages were tough but others were easy but my average has been 3/4 correct. I have analysed all the answers too. I have done OG12 and 13 already along with VR2. Now I don't want to do them again as I have throughly analysed them and I remember most of the answers.

Can someone please recommend some RC practise source(reliable and relevant to GMAT). I have my GMAT in 20 days and I want to continue this mission of 5 passages a day.

I would appreciate any help please.

I am glad that you found the Veritas Reading Comp useful!

Have you done the GMATPrep add on pack? That has 400-plus questions including many RC questions.

Not sure that will meet your demand for 5 passages a day for more than a few days!

Here is the problem with reading comprehension, it is tough to create a great passage, and have every question be tough AND fair. Most unofficial reading comp materials are unable to achieve the careful balance that is required. After all, 1 single word can make the difference between a question that is fair and one that is unfair.

With that said, have you thought of trying a few LSAT passages? They are not precisely GMAT, but they have been edited with great care so that you know that they are at least fair and very well done.

I Have never tried the LSAT passages before. I bought the Veritas prep books and took 3 tests and I am consistent on between 690-710. I scored 710 on gmatprep test aswell last week. But As my test is 20 days away, I don't want to loose the touch. Another question I wanted to ask is about STOP strategy. After reading the whole passage before going to the questions I write S T O P on my book and try to find out each element of stop. It takes about 30 seconds time more than usual but my accuracy has improved with this a lot. Should I continue with that or try something else to reduce the time taken or time will reduce with practise. At my current pace I have to guess about 3-4 questions in between to keep the time in control but still I am on V37 on all the tests. I have also bought the gmatprep software but they don't have much RC passages in that. I have finished them now.

Is there any particular LSAT book you recommend David.

The Veritas Prep RC book is one of the best in their family of GMAT books, and a best source for RC passages outside of the 2 OG's. In my opinion, you really do not need more practice beyond what this book, the 2 OG's and the CAT's provide. If you are struggling with RC even after exhausting all the resources, then perhaps you need to work more on strategy. I would recommend the MGMAT RC guide, or Online videos for strategy.
