Information overload... Help ?

by Yrael » Sat Oct 12, 2013 4:30 am
Hi !

I just finished my first practice test and I scored 500... with half of the quant questions wrong (not hard questions either).

My problem ? I haven't done any math harder than an addition in 5 years so I'm out of practice. And I have no idea where to start. There is too much information and too many prep options.

I intend to take the exam in march so I have a little time to prepare BUT since I'm still attending college, I can't spend more than 5/8 hours a week for the GMAT.

What would you suggest for an extensive math review (both basics and harder stuff) ? What materials are a must have ? Any strategy suggestions ?

Thanks !

First, 500 is a great baseline score.

As far as quant prep goes, you need to find a resource that starts with the fundamentals (i.e., doesn't make any assumptions about existing skills/knowledge.) I think you'll find that most of the test-prep companies on this forum (including ours), begin with the fundamentals and slowly progress to advanced topics.

To ensure that you cover all of the concepts (math and verbal) that the GMAT tests, you might consider signing up for Beat The GMAT's free 60-Day Study Guide (https://www.beatthegmat.com/mba/gmat-guide).
Each day, you will receive an email with a series of learning activities that guide you, step-by-step, from Day 1 to test day.
