HAAS asks the following question in its application form: Would like to be considered for scholarships designated for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgendered students.

Hmm, how should I put it... How do they verify your statements?

And do they announce it publicly if you receive it?

Your first question: I'm doubting they verify, though my guess is they look at involvement you might have add in the LGBT community. As an LGBT person, I am checking the box, and my understanding is that it is an outside scholarship provided by a gay philanthropist.

Your second question: you'll have to ask Haas directly.
