How do I raise my score from a 500 to 650?

I've been self studying for months now and have recently just taken the GMATPrep test (without Integrated Reasoning). I seemed to do slightly better in Verbal than I am in Quantitative but both individual scores were unimpressive. I don't want to have to take a $1000 class just to raise my score 50 points and I'm exhausted with the Official GMAT practice questions.

Does anyone have any tips on how to raise my score from 500 to 650?

Thanks in advance!

The key is to track your mistakes and be able to say each time why you were wrong. You should focus currently on accuracy and ignore timing.
The Official Guide is great to practice but not so great to learn from, since the explanations are often very brief.
If you do not want to enroll on a course or get a tutor, I would recommend using the internet and this forum as your tutor.
Apart from that you could use some GMAT handbooks which contain theory and not only practice.
