I understood the answer to this question but can anyone explain me what is the meaning of the option "offers confirmation of a contested assumption" .. I want to know what is the meaning of contested assumption please explain with this or any other example as I have seen this kind of option in CR in many places

As far as I know, no official CR has employed the phrase contested assumption.
The argument above is causal.
The earlier settlers concluded that poisonous GASES caused malaria.
Doctors in the 1880's concluded that MOSQUITOS were responsible for the spread of malaria.
Both the settlers and the doctors assumed that there was not an ALTERNATE CAUSE.
The boldface portion serves as a premise supporting the doctors' conclusion.
It does not rule out every other possible cause.
In fact, NO premise could rule out every other possible cause.
Hence, the boldface portion does not serve to CONFIRM the assumption.
