Queens/Ivey/Sauder or University of Ottawa's Telfer SOM ??

Hi,

I would like to have the opinion of MBA aspirants or already admitted ppl at Ivey,Queens, Rotman about how these Bschool treat lil older candidate.
I am 36+ and looking to get into MBA now.
As for why Canada, they have 1 yr program and I might be moving to Canada on PR around early next year...

Target area of work: Consulting few years or Entreprenuer ( not sure about this one- as I dont know much about Canada but would love to).
Or even if I can get into MNCs to begin with but in Energy Sector.

Just would like to have your honest opinion. One of the reason for MBA at this stage tired of IT and wanna switch career.

Also , I would like to know about Telfer SOM . how is it viewed in Canada.

Hey,

I am considering Telfer as well. From what I was able to research about the school it seems to be a decent program for what they charge. Plus, it is located downtown Ottawa with all sorts of international exposure.
Let me know if you were to find out more about the school. Have you made a decision about what school to apply to?

In ft.com worldwide MBA rankings, among Canadian MBA's they have Rotman, Ivey, and then Schulich in that order. They are all ranked around #50 in worldwide standing.
I did not see Telfer. I know someone who went to Ivey and was immediately employed by MSFT right after. Sal > $120k CAN

Well, I agree that it would be beneficial to go to a top school. however, one needs to consider the cost as well and it is considerable. Not everyone who went to a great school gets employed by MSFT with such salary.
Besides, I know a guy who went to Cornell and then got a job with MSFT. After a year or so he realized that it wasn't a good fit for him in spite of the big salary. So, he left.
I also know people who went to "not so well known schools" but because they were talented and worked hard they have achieved a lot in their career.
So, have you decided what school you want to attend? Are you in CAN on your PR yet?
