GMAT Exam- Confused

by durgaprasadgunturu » Thu Dec 23, 2010 9:07 am
Hello all,

I am 4 years experienced in a Major IT Services company in India. I took GMAT and got a score of 530(Q43,V19, Which is pretty low of my expectations). I am in a confusion, whether to take up GMAT again and apply for R3 or take up exam in May or so, and apply for R1 next year.

I dont have any special things to mention in application, i was just following the crowd. I am planning to use the coming year to work on my application and be ready for R1 next year.

I would like your comments on my thought.

Thank you

Hello,

Given your profile, not taking the GMAT is NOT an option. Also don't pressurize yourself into taking it as soon as possible for R3. Not only is R3 cut throat for your profile but it also will mean you won't have time to prepare for the GMAT.

My suggestion is you ensure you study well and take the GMAT. Score well and decide your schools based on that. The next few months you can focus on thinking through your application process, as well as what part of your profile you want to highlight in the essays. I would recommend working with a seasoned admissions consultant since your profile needs to fight the demographic disadvantage of IIM (Indian-IT-Male).
