If the fraction d were converted into a decimal, would there be more than 3 nonzero digits to the right of the decimal point?
(1) The denominator of d is exactly 8 times the numerator of d.

(2) If d were converted into a decimal, d would be a non-repeating decimal.

A - Statement (1) ALONE is sufficient, but statement (2) alone is not sufficient.
B - Statement (2) ALONE is sufficient, but statement (1) alone is not sufficient.
C - Both statements TOGETHER are sufficient, but NEITHER one ALONE is sufficient.
D - EACH statement ALONE is sufficient.
E - Statements (1) and (2) TOGETHER are NOT sufficient.

IMO A

1) 1/8=0.125
ans no
hence suff

2)d can be .12;.123;.1234

so inconclusion insuff

But isnt the definition of a non repeating definition - A decimal that neither terminates nor repeats ?

yes that's true but here the question is :

If the fraction d were converted into a decimal, would there be more than 3 nonzero digits to the right of the decimal point?

As per 2 the decimal can be 0.12 or 0.312 both of which qualifies 2 but one gives an violates given expression(0.12) and the other does not(0.312).
