Interview Outfit

Hi!

I've read often that, for men, a full suit is required for a business school interview. What are the guidelines for a female interviewee?

Dear Rivkid & myohmy,

Professional attire is always appropriate for an interview, whether for school or for a job. For women, that would mean a suit also. There are many great professional dress options in the suit category--some have pants, some a skirt and some a dress with a jacket. All are fine as long as they are not too tight or revealing. Use accessories for a pop of color or personality, but remember that less is more when it comes to professional dress.

What about shoes? I would prefer not to wear heels at all, since I'm not very comfortable in them - what type of flats are considered professional. Also, for jewelry and make-up what would you suggest?

myohmy - yes, I'm 2+2 as well. I think my first thought after getting the e-mail (other than the initial jump for joy...) was "oh no, I have nothing to wear" ;)

Shoes should also be professional. If you are not comfortable in heels, then wear a nice pair of leather flats or perhaps a small kitten heel. You just want to stay away from sandals, open toes, wedges and any other casual shoe.

Jewelry and make-up--less is more. You want to wear nice jewelry that coordinates with your suit. You should also wear make-up that enhances your natural appearance, nothing too flashy or crazy in color.
