Hello Friends,

My GMAT score from my first attempt is 600. I want to apply for NYU STERN Langone MBA program.
I have a 8+ years of experience in IT consulting, I can get good recommendation from my professional contacts. I have a good 3.9 GPA in my undergrads, but I have no Financial industry experience and My under grad is from India.

Please advice, how can I prepare a successful application?

Hello there!
Well for starters the two best things you can do to help your application is:
a) Get 80 more points on your GMAT
b) Get sponsored by your company.

If you can do both that would rock.

Other than that it's also important to show them why this is the ideal program for you.

I'm assuming that you will be working through your PT MBA, and that you are not looking for an industry change, right?

Definitely retake the GMAT and try to obtain a higher score but with your grades even a mid-600 score will make you competitive. Also, any financial sponsorship will help as this lessens the risk Langone has in admitting you (and having you drop out) and shows the degree to which your employer values you.

Best of luck,

Thanks for your valuable inputs, I was hoping to make it to their 01/2012 session, so I need to apply by 09/15/2011 deadline and since I took my test on aug-20th-2011, I can't squeeze in another GMAT in this time frame.
Is this score absolutely low and has no chance even when coupled with rest of my particulars? or should I give it shot and see what hgappens?

-Thank you
