I am getting "E"
If x = quantity drained away
12-x = x-6
==> x = 9

E should be

Let d be water drained away and h is water left in the bucket

d - h = 6
d + h = 12

solve for d which equals 9

the amount of water in the sink should be a positive number and is equal to amount of water drained - 6
9 is the only number >6...
so E
