Tougher Quant Qs?

by Turnpike » Sun Jul 19, 2009 8:29 am
Hi,

Is it just me, or do most candidates think that the Quant questions on the GMAC GMATPrep are substantially different from the ones in the OGs, Kaplans etc.? I can easily buzz through most questions on the OGs, Kaplans etc., but when it comes to the GMATPrep, I end up having to guess on most of them. Perhaps it's because, in general, the prep materials are geared towards the 550-650 range (my guess). I have Kaplan 800. Please let me know of somewhere which will have a higher level of Quant.

Thx.

You are correct that OG problems tend to be on the easy side if you're really good at quant. Other than the last 20 or so problems in each section, you're looking more at 75th percentile level problems, not 90th percentile level problems.

I haven't used the Kaplan 800 book personally, but I've heard from other top scoring folks that it's pretty tough in comparison to the OG. Also, someone posted a file with 100 really tough problems on here a couple weeks ago. I'll see if I can find it, but you should try to do a search, too. I had a quick glance at some of the problems and they were definitely upper bin material.
