ambiguity issue

"it is inside the orbit of Jupiter, and the astronomers can see the COMET by using a good telescope."

is this sentence correct? does "it" unambiguously refer to "comet". ("it" refers to "comet").

Consider: The comet is inside the orbit of Jupiter, and astronomers can see it by using a good telescope.

Now what does "it" refer to? The comet or Jupiter?
